Snorre’s Story Hour

Developed as part of Mammalian Droppings, Snorre’s Story Hour is a playful, interactive reading event inspired by Riga’s Snorre K Svennson, who has the amazing ability to read over 200 books at one time, making great use of our collective decreasing attention span. 

The audience is invited to bring books that changed their lives and together we read fragments from all, trusting that some higher meaning will be revealed. Bibliomancy is also deployed as we use the books to divine the future. Spoiler: we all die.

What unfolds is a whimsical, hour-long mashup of pages and ideas – each offering a new twist, with different subjects reflecting and amplifying, contradicting and confounding each other. Inspired by William Burroughs’ work with chance operations and by your baby nephew’s random saliva-slicked forays into your bookshelf, the performance invites audiences to embrace randomness and unpredictability, proving that chance is always an accomplished artiste.
