The Book of Spin

The Book of Spin is a playbook to create game-like, bite-size experiences in neighbourhoods across your world.

Designed a series of lesson plans and exercises, The Book of Spin provides detailed context and a step-by-step guide to the world of Spin, offering the opportunity to become Spinmakers and smash together various socio-artistic “ingredients” into a compilation of often-bizarre, deliciously-hilarious and provoking Spins, Spin Cycles and Spinposiums. Through the magic of smartphones, performers guide audience members out in the real world, wherever they may be.

These telephonic guides, aka: Spins, bring together individuals of different age, socio-cultural and economic backgrounds in surprising ways. Using the Spins as a catalyst, real world audiences will engage with the world around them via a series of intimate, unusual, and joyful experiences across great geographic distances.

Primarily designed for the high school classroom, drama club, theatre group, or just regular-ass folks looking for something fun to do with their smartphones, The Book of Spin can be used piecemeal or as part of a 12-week school term.

The Book of Spin can be accessed here, via Wonder Fool’s ‘Positive Stories for Negative Times’.

If you happen to Spin a Spin that’s never been spun and would like us to include it in The Book of Spin, you can get in touch via spin@mammalian.ca and we’ll add it to the living Book.
